Aad van Dommelen is the designer of the Wigli One, Just and Junior

Aad van Dommelen is originally a graphic designer. He was creative director of three renowned design agencies: Vorm Vijf, Proforma and Total Design / Total Identity respectively. In 2008 he founded his current office Witvorm graphic design. Besides a lot of graphic work, including well-known house styles and fonts, he has a number of spatial designs to his name.

“As a designer you spend long days (sometimes even nights) behind your desk. At a young age I started to suffer from my back. A physical therapist recommended sitting on a balance board while working. That is a disk with a hemisphere underneath. Placing it on a wooden crate brought it level to sitting height. It worked perfectly! In a few weeks time I got rid of my back pain. It was just not a beautiful or practical piece of furniture. If you sat for a while, the balance board wobbled to the edge and you fell off the crate. That called for a better design. Dozens of sketches and prototypes later, the Wigli was born. I have never had back problems again. ”
